Business leaders, developers, and residents in St. Cloud have a new Development Activity Dashboard to track projects across the community. The dashboard, powered by ArcGIS, displays construction and development activities totaling $250,000 or more since 2017. It is an interactive page that allows users to filter by project date, value, and even land use.

“This new format is much easier to use and even mobile-friendly,” says Cathy Mehelich, Economic Development Director for the City of St. Cloud Economic Development Authority. “You can enjoy many of the same features as before, with a much better layout and clearer information.”

Not only is this map useful for the business community, but it also paints a picture of the development trends occurring across St. Cloud. Learn how to use the new Development Activity Dashboard and why it is so valuable.

This Report Provides Insight Into Current and Past Projects

Upon landing on the Development Activity Dashboard, users can pull information from either the Overview or Map Details pages, which are accessible via tabs at the bottom. The top-right corner of the desktop has various filters you can use to view specific time periods and project sizes. Here are a few key metrics you can pull from this dashboard:

  • Private and public projects. Get an idea for the scale of development in St. Cloud and which projects are private investments vs public investments..
  • Project categories. Learn about the types of projects underway, including medical, retail, office, industrial, and public.
  • Project locations. Use the map view to see where project clusters are located. This is useful for learning about the types of industries and where they are found in St. Cloud.
  • Specific project names. The map view also displays a list of projects, along with a chart showing the name, value, type, and scope for each.

“This is a great tool to highlight all the great things happening in St. Cloud,” says Mehelich.

The Dashboard Showcases Macro Trends in St. Cloud

One of the benefits of publicly sharing development data since 2017 is that users can watch trends emerge as the city has grown. There is a strong line of projects along Highway 23 (Division Street) as it has built up over the past decade. There is also a lot of recent activity in downtown St. Cloud as the city works to bring new amenities and attractions to residents.

“This information showcases the growth corridors in the city, especially when you take a pre- and post-pandemic view,” says Mehelich. “Businesses looking to expand or move within the area can see where the action is and get a feel for where their customers might be.”

The filters can also help developers find their ideal audiences. For example, they can see where local colleges and medical campuses are located by looking at which projects have been approved in the past few years.

Here’s What Happened in Q1 2026

There’s plenty of activity in St. Cloud throughout the year, but winter tends to be a quieter period for development. It’s harder to launch construction projects when there is snow on the ground. However, a few projects were approved in Q1 2026 in a few different industries.

  • Automotive Parts Headquarters on Southway Dr. started construction on a new building addition.
  • AutoZone on Division St. started a store remodel, updating its restrooms and doors while increasing fire safety.
  • CentraCare on Centracare Cir launched a project to install a rooftop solar array on its buildings.
  • Zepole Supply Co. on Crescent St. began an interior remodel as part of a tenant improvement project.

These projects support the retail, medical, and industrial sectors. As St. Cloud enters spring, a surge of new projects is expected to continue through the fall.
